I love these building sculptures. I think they really add charm and whimsy to a building and also allow observers a glimpse into the architect’s fun side.
I’m surprised not to see The Biltmore House. They have a great collection.

PEACEFUL?
A lot of them are roof drains or waterspouts to move the rain water away from the building. Anything with an open mouth or other opening is probably a waterspout.
Many of the cathedrals have great images. There’s an ancient bridge in Paris that is covered in gargoles.
